Our 2018 Opa’s Block is 100% Dijon 943 Clone. We used a more traditional approach by using 100% whole cluster fermentation. For this vintage, the inclusion of the grape stems had a positive influence on the wine, particularly by introducing a nice tannin and structure to this wine. The resulting flavors showed black tea, floral, and forest floor notes.
This single-block, single-clone Pinot Noir offers complex aromatics of fresh young raspberry, black tea, and tobacco with traces of brown spices and fine herbs. Focused, refined flavors of concentrated cherry, raspberry, and plum deliver a vibrant palate with subtle restraint. Hints of violets, orange zest, and cedar nuances add depth and interest. Fine-grained oak and soft tannins provide a well-integrated structure in the wine, leading to a long and lingering finish.
